Convention Information

The IAAP Annual Convention is the largest aggregates industry convention in the Midwest with over 400 attendees each year.  The Associates’ Expo is a key part of this event—an opportunity to see and ask questions about a large number of products and services offered by Associate Member companies.  Educational seminars, committee reports, luncheon, and evening reception round out the all day program making for a very valuable experience.

If you would like to join us at this year’s Convention, download and complete the registration form on this page then return it to the IAAP, with payment, at your earliest convenience.  The cost for an individual ticket to attend the convention is $150.  To avoid delays at the registration desk, please provide the information requested on the registration form so that we can prepare your name badge(s) in advance.

Associate members interested in displaying their goods and services at this year’s convention may download and complete an Associate Member Expo Booth and Registration Form and return this form to the IAAP, with payment, at your earliest convenience. An Expo display booth measures 10 feet wide x 8 feet deep and includes an 8 foot tall backdrop, a display table (8 feet x 2 feet), chairs and electrical outlets. This booth configuration will be available to the first 75 associate members registering.  The $300 cost for an Expo booth includes premium space and a donation towards the Associates’ Luncheon.  For no additional charge, wireless Internet connections will be available to the first 25 companies requesting this service for their booth.  Please note: All associate member companies participating in the Expo must purchase booth space and convention tickets for each attendee and booth worker.

Effective Environmental Awareness Training for Plant Employees
12 noon to 2 pm | Emerald Ballroom

Dr. Joe McGuire, OMG Midwest, Inc., has developed an environmental awareness training process and materials designed to engage your employees in learning through hands-on activities and group discussion. During this session you will experience how the use of these methods helps increase the amount of information retained, thereby resulting in more effective training. Pre-registration is not required.

Contesting MSHA Citations-Successful Strategies to Reduce Liability
2 to 4:30 pm | Emerald Ballroom

Attorney Matthew Korn, Fisher & Phillips, LLP, will provide management with the tools to successfully challenge citations and orders, including potential defenses, settlement strategies, and basic litigation techniques. Utilizing small group discussions and hands-on demonstrations, Matt will show how to effectively contest improperly issued citations and orders given recent changes to MSHA’s civil penalty rules. This seminar will build on last year’s seminar of the same title. Pre-registration is not required.

Aggregate Policy Seminar | 2 to 4:30 pm | Sapphire Ballroom

This Illinois Department of Transportation informational meeting led by Sheila Beshears, Bureau of Material and Physical Research, addresses a broad range of recent aggregate issues including AGCS, recycled concrete and a new aggregate gradation software program as well as a look at upcoming policy changes. This free seminar will benefit aggregate technicians, inspectors and QC managers and will include a question and answer period. Pre-registration is not required.

Sustainability Reception | 5 to 7:00 pm | Diamond Ballroom

This reception will give you the opportunity to talk with other producer and associate members as well as industry stakeholders who benefit from and support the aggregate industry’s drive to remain successful and sustainable. Each will have a table display or poster presentations and literature for you to browse. If you are interested in a display table space for your company or organization, please contact Shawn McKinney by telephone at 217-241-1639 as soon as possible. There is no charge for a display table and the reception with hors d’oeuvres and beverages is free and open to all convention and seminar attendees.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Convention organizing committee invites your company and its employees to sponsor our Sustainability Reception. Individual donations of $25 will be accepted as well as company donations of $250. Individual donors will be recognized on a sign at the entrance to the reception and by the sponsorship ribbon added to their name badge on convention day. Companies sponsoring the event are noted on a sign at the reception and convention entrances and a listing in the convention program.
