The IAAP Education Foundation Scholarship program strengthens the Illinois aggregates industry by promoting the education of worthy students.
The Education Foundation scholarship supports students learning and training to be the next generation of professionals in the industry.
The Joanne Kluessendorf Memorial scholarship promotes the education of individuals seeking a career in teaching Earth Science or Geology.
For 2022, the IAAP Scholarship Committee will award up to five (5) scholarships of at least $2,000 each. These scholarships are a one-year grant. Students may re-apply in subsequent years.
Applicant must be enrolled or enrolling at an institution of higher learning (hereafter referred to as college) and be pursuing an undergraduate degree, on a full-time basis. Students in their final year of high school may apply.
Applicant must be majoring, or intends to major, in a curriculum which will be compatible with a career in the aggregates industry such as (but not limited to) Civil Engineering, Engineering Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Geological Engineering, Mineral Science or Mining Engineering.
Applicant should have a grade point average of at least a "B". An application for a student with less than a “B” average may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
Selection criteria are based in part on the applicant’s financial need, character, attitude, and achievements.
An applicant must submit the following information:
Completed Application Form.
College transcript if you are now in college. (A photocopy is acceptable.)
If you have been in college for one year or less, or are still in high school, submit your high school transcript including ACT or SAT scores.
Original essay between 300 and 500 words in length. (Students should not submit the same essay the next year you apply.)
In your essay, outline your interest in and/or connection to the Illinois aggregates industry;
how your chosen field will apply to work in the Illinois aggregates industry;
your goals;
where you plan to attend college;
why you chose to apply for this scholarship; and
explain your financial need for the scholarship.
Optional information you may include with your application:
Your FAFSA Student Aid Report or other proof of financial need.
One or two letters of recommendation.

Applicant must be entering their Junior or Senior year of college and be pursuing undergraduate work only, on a full-time basis, at an institution of higher learning (hereafter referred to as College). Students completing their final requirements including a final semester of student teaching are also eligible to apply.
Applicant must be majoring, or intends to major, in a curriculum which will be compatible with a career in education. Possible areas of study may include Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Science, or Natural History Museum Programs.
Applicant should have a grade point average of at least a 3 on a 4 scale (or 4 on a 5 scale). An application from a student with a lesser grade point average may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
In order to be considered for an IAAP Joanne Kluessendorf Memorial Scholarship, you must submit the following information:
Completed Application Form.
Up to two letters of recommendation.
College transcript.
Original essay explaining: (Students should not submit the same essay from a previous year)
a) your interest in and/or connection to Earth Science or Geology education; b) how you will apply your education and training to raising awareness of earth science and/or geology in Illinois c) your goals; d) why you chose to apply for this scholarship; and e) outline your financial need for the scholarship.
