Industry Leadership

The IAAP developed this award program to recognize members that have demonstrated leadership excellence and made a significant contribution to the welfare of the industry. 

Leadership can be demonstrated in part by:

• Employee participation in IAAP committees
• Achieving IAAP awards and certificates
• Participation in IAAP sponsored or organized events  

More significantly, leadership may be demonstrated by individuals or member companies engaged in efforts to promote and advance the image and well-being of the industry, company, mine site or business location, and its employees that may not be related to IAAP activities.  

​IAAP members are encouraged to submit nominations to the IAAP each year. The nomination can come from an individual or company, IAAP staff, or IAAP committee.  Members may nominate another person, company, yourself or your company.

​In the nomination, tell the award judging committee what the nominee is doing to promote and advance the image and well-being of the industry, company, mine site or business location, and its employees.

Determining Award Recipients 

• The Industry Leadership Award committee is composed of the Chairperson (or their designee) from the IAAP Safety, Public Information and Education, Environmental, Legislative, Technical, and Sustainability Committees as well as IAAP Board of Directors and IAAP staff. 
• The Industry Leader(s) will be determined by the Leadership Awards Committee prior to the IAAP Annual Convention each year.

Recognition​

• Recipients will be recognized by the IAAP Board President during the IAAP Associates’ and Awards Luncheon at the IAAP Convention each year and be presented with the award.
• The company may choose to have a press release drafted by the IAAP and sent to news media outlets.
