Industry Leadership

The IAAP recognizes a Producer Member mine site that has demonstrated leadership excellence within our mining industry. Leadership will be determined in large part by employee participation in IAAP activities and company/mine site recognition award and certificate programs as well as efforts to promote the image and wellbeing of the industry, company, mine site, and its employees.

​There is no application for this award; candidates are nominated by IAAP member committees.

Determining Award Recipients 

• The Industry Leadership Award committee will be composed of the Chairperson (or their designee) from the IAAP Safety, Public Information and Education, Environmental, Legislative, Technical, and Sustainability Committees. 
• Committees will recommend mine sites worthy of the award – based on their specific criteria as outlined below. 
• Each committee grants points but the winner is chosen by total number of points when all committees' recommendations are combined.
• The Industry Leader should be granted to a particular site, combined with company-level achievements.
• It's anticipated that only one mine site will be selected each year and only one Industry Leadership award granted to a mine site in a five year period.

Recognition
An award recipient that has clearly demonstrated “Industry Leadership” qualities, as determined by the Industry Leadership Award committee, shall be asked to choose a decorative plaque or a free-standing trophy. The recipient will be recognized by the IAAP Board President during the IAAP Associates’ and Awards Luncheon at the IAAP Convention each year. The company may choose to have a press release drafted by the IAAP and sent to news media outlets.

• Each criterion is worth one point.
• Primary criteria will be used to score the winner; secondary criteria will be used to break a tie.
