Community Relations

The IAAP Community Relations Award recognizes both producer and associate member companies whose community involvement and support activities have enhanced the public’s perception of the member’s operation and the aggregates industry in general.  By doing so, the IAAP hopes to encourage more and continued public outreach efforts by its members.

How awards are determined
  • Applicants must satisfy criteria in three categories.
  • Each category relates to general areas of community involvement.
  • Within each category are specific activities or policies identified by the IAAP Public Information and Education (PIE) Committee as demonstrating a company location’s efforts to meet the goals of this award.
  • The merits of each application are evaluated by members of the PIE Committee.

Award criteria are detailed in the award entry packet available for download on this page. Download the entry form in Word format to organize your entry.
Why your company should be concerned with community relations:
  • We know your operations are an important asset to any community; your community members should realize this too because of your efforts.
  • A company must continually strive to remind the community of its importance by enhancing its image while demonstrating good corporate citizenship.
  • Individuals working at the mine or office are liaisons for your operation; their visibility in the community puts an identifiable face on your company.
  • A pro-active company will empower its employees to be good citizens of the community by supporting and encouraging their outreach efforts and by incorporating community involvement into its company philosophy.
