Safety training providers

The IAAP is committed to its partnerships with the US Department of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Office of Mines and Minerals (OMM) to ensure that the aggregates industry actively promotes mine safety. The goal of the IAAP Safety Committee is to promote safe working conditions within the aggregates industry by identifying current and future safety issues and then developing programs and policies to address them.

IAAP Safety Committee Activities:

• Resource for members experiencing safety & health compliance issues or developing safety programs.
• Analyze safety and health rules and initiatives put forth by regulatory agencies and develop strategies to respond.
• Design information and training seminars for our industry, in concert with our State and Federal partners.
• Develop presentations and safety outreach activities for the IAAP’s Annual Convention and other meetings.
• Administer the IAAP’s Rock Solid Safety award program and Innovative Safety & Health Leadership award program.
• Organize the Aggregate Miner Safety Conference (formerly Spring Thaw) each year.
• Develop hardhat stickers or safety slogans reminding miners to work safely or recognizing fatality free years in the Illinois aggregates industry.
• Maintain a library of safety resources for IAAP members to use.
