Mine Operator Rights and Managing MSHA Inspections - IAAP Member Webinar - February 27, 20182/22/2018
Details and registration here
The IAAP’s Public Information and Education Committee will hold its 22nd annual Illinois Teachers Workshop: Rocks, Minerals & Mining in Today’s Society at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, on July 16-18, 2018.
Do you have a teacher in mind that could benefit from participating? Would you like to sponsor a teacher from a community near your operations? If so, please contact the IAAP office and we will provide a sponsor invoice for your company and full-color informational brochures for you to pass along to teachers or school administrators in your community, even if your company does not sponsor a teacher. The goal of this workshop is to inform teachers in grades K-12 about the importance of rocks, minerals, and mining in everyday life. We accomplish this by allowing participants to tour active mining operations and by providing information, teaching aids, and hands-on activities they can take back to their classrooms. Teachers also take away a new appreciation of how important aggregate producers are to this State’s economy. More information about the workshop as well as online teacher registration can be found here. You can help support this important IAAP program in two ways One: Companies or organizations may sponsor teachers to attend our workshop at a cost of $375 per teacher. Please contact Jodi Crowe for a list of registered teachers. Or, just ask the IAAP and we will send along our list of teachers so you may choose one or more close to your operations. Up to 37 teachers will register this year so more will be available to sponsor in the coming weeks. We can also assign a teacher to your company if you like. Two: You can donate educational materials or corporate promotional items in quantities of forty each. The IAAP’s PIE Committee will be collecting these items at the annual convention in April. Bring them to the PIE booth and get some popcorn in return. You may also make a cash donation to help defray workshop costs such as bus transportation for tours, educational materials, speaker accommodations, and so on. The PIE Committee can take your cash donation in exchange for 50/50 raffle tickets at the convention. If you are not attending the convention, please send donations directly to the IAAP. Sponsoring a teacher to attend this workshop is an excellent way for your company to enhance its community relations and ensure generations of students will better understand how mining builds Illinois’ future.
