Lake Land College is authorized by the Illinois Department of Transportation to provide a virtual 5-day aggregate technician course. The lecture portion will be held online and students can complete it on their own as long as they meet the due dates. The labs are mandatory and will be completed via live Zoom meetings at scheduled times.

Biden Harris Infrastructure Plan Allocates $621B For Transportation According to the AASHTO Journal, the $2.3 trillion infrastructure investment package unveiled by the Biden Harris administration on March 31 – entitled the American Jobs Plan – allocates $621 billion in overall spending to the transportation sector, with the largest slice of that funding aimed at spurring major growth in the electric vehicle market. Illinois Legislative Update: Prevailing Wage, Environmental Justice and More The Spring legislative session has been very active for the IAAP. We are currently tracking 91 bills. With the Illinois General Assembly entering a two-week legislative break before returning to Springfield on April 13th, the following is an update on several key legislative issues in which the IAAP is engaged. Threat of Citations if Fuse Not Installed on Positive Battery Cable Recently, two IAAP member mining companies were told by a MSHA inspector to install a fuse or other circuit-interrupting device on the positive battery cable of mobile equipment. Safety Slogan T-Shirts Working safely is the most important part of a miner’s job. Each year the IAAP offers safety T-shirts to members with a slogan and logo designed by a miner’s child. This year’s design, Safety Rules Are Your Best Tools, helps employees to recognize safe work habits and was designed by Sofy Gonzales, daughter of Jared Gonzales and granddaughter of Rick Plochocki, both employees of Illinois Cement in LaSalle. 2021 Safety Slogan T-shirts can be ordered now and picked up at the IAAP office or we will deliver to your door. Do you have a teacher in mind that could benefit from participating? Would you like to sponsor a teacher from a community near your operations? If so, please call the IAAP office and we will provide a sponsor invoice for your company and full-color informational brochures for you to pass along to teachers or school administrators in your community, even if your company does not sponsor a teacher. Illinois Voluntary Aglime Program Outline for 2021 Season The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) began the sampling window on April 1st and continue until May 31st and has committed to have all samples delivered to Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) by June 15th. The Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers (IAAP) is committed to the program as well.
